COCHRAN, Ga. - The Bethel Lady Wildcat softball squad began a six game road stretch taking three out of four games at Middle Georgia over the weekend. After splitting a doubleheader Friday the Cats took both games Saturday in Cochran. Bethel won 5-3 and 4-3 in eight innings in game two.
Bethel took game one Friday with a 2-1 win while MGS bounced back with an 11-3 victory in game two.
A four run fourth was the big inning for Bethel in game one on Saturday. After Iesha Kizer drove in a run with an RBI single, Jezabelle Quintana socked a three run homer for the Lady Wildcats. Bethel scored a single run in the fifth while Middle Georgia scored single runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings. Bethel outhit MGS 8-6. Maddie Cochran picked up the win for the Cats.
In game two the Lady Cats took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the third. Amanda Perry had driven in a run with an RBI single in the second. Quintana blasted a two-run homer in the third. MGS rallied back with single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to tie the game at 3-3. Kizer singled to lead off the top of the eighth and scored on a MGS error to give the Cats a 4-3 lead. Bethel was able to hold on for the one run victory. Maddie Cochran picked up another win in game two.
Bethel moved to 15-10 overall 9 -5 in the SSAC. The Cats are 7 -3 in road action on the season. MGS fell to 18-10 overall and 5-3 in the league. Bethel now leads the all-time series 7-5.
Bethel travels to Freed-Hardeman Monday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. The Lions are ranked No. 22 in the nation and lead the all-time series between the two programs 24-11.
