MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats closed out their home stand with a SSAC doubleheader against the Lady Toppers of Blue Mountain Tuesday at the Kahlden Complex in McKenzie.
Bethel won game one in dramatic style scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 10-9.
BMC had scored seven runs in the sixth and appeared to have the game under control leading 9-5 but RBI singles by Makenzie Caldwell, Alexis Wheeler, and Amanda Perry in the bottom of the seventh put the Lady Cats in position to win. Hollee Henson drove in a run and then Julia Abney drove in the winning run to give the Lady Cats the come from behind victory. Wheeler finished with three RBI's. Jezabelle Quintana also drove in a run while Abney drove in a total of two runs.
Blue Mountain answered with a vengeance in game two. The Toppers scored 12 runs in the second to take early control. They sent 17 hitters to the plate, had seven hits and were aided by five Bethel errors in the inning. BMC added four more runs in the fourth and won 16-0 in five.
Bethel finished the night at 12-9 and 6-3 in the SSAC. Blue Mountain moved to 12-14 and 2-8.
The Lady Cats hit the road traveling to Cochran, Georgia to face the Middle Georgia State Knights this weekend. The teams play doubleheaders Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
