MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Bethel Wildcats ran their winning streak to seven in a row with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Stillman College Saturday. The Cats won game one 8-4 and then took game two 4-2. With the three-game weekend sweep Bethel ran their record to 15-8 overall and 6-3 in the SSAC. The Tigers fell to 6-12 and 1-8.
Bethel scored five runs in the first in game one. The big hits came off the bats of Ruber Medina who slugged a two run homer and Jack Surber who had a two run triple in the inning. Austin Brenner and Lucas Riddick drove in two runs each in the game. Trevor Bishop picked up the Wildcat win while Giovannie Nieves was credited with the save.
Game two saw the Wildcats duo of Billy Price and Nieves team up to hold the Tigers to just two runs. Brenner and Surber each drove in a run. Surber had eight RBI's in the the three game series. Nicholas Proto continued his good hitting with a homer and two RBI's.
The Wildcats begin a five game road stretch with a doubleheader at No. 6 Freed-Hardeman Tuesday. Game one begins at 3 p.m. in Henderson.
