MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats braved the cold weather in style Friday afternoon winning over Culver-Stockton 3-0 in a seven inning affair at the Kahlden Complex. The Cats ran their record to 3-2 while the visiting Wildcats opened their season at 0-1.
The Wildcats scored a single run in the fourth on a solo homer by Jack Surber. Nicholas Proto drove in two runs in the fifth.
Brandon Degnegaard was the winner allowing just five hits in 5.1 innings. Antonio Costas picked up the save with 1.2 innings of relief.
The two squads will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The series concludes Sunday with a single game at 12:30 p.m.
