Bat Cats Split DH with Columbia College

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – For the second day in a row the Bethel Wildcats and the Columbia College Cougars spit in a doubleheader at the Kahlden Complex in McKenzie. Bethel won game one 12-4 while Columbia gained the split with a 6-3 victory in game two.

The Cats pounded out 14 hits in game one and scored in every inning except one. A four run second and a five run sixth proved to be the difference in the game.

Isaac Pender drove in four runs while Nicholas Proto had four hits and drove in three runs for the Wildcats. Bradley Gill had three hits and sent three Wildcats home. Baylor Steelman had one RBI. Lucas Riddick contributed with a solo homer.

Giovannie Nieves picked up the win for the Cats while Jordan Copeland suffered the Cougar loss.

Game two saw the Cougars gain the split as they had ten hits. Columbia used a three run first inning and a two run fourth to secure the win. They had single runs in the third and second innings. The Wildcats had an RBI from Logan Talley, Steelman and Sebastian Cortes each.

Conner Darnell was the winning pitcher while Austin Elrod was charged with the Bethel loss.

The Wildcats return to action Friday hosting Midway University at 3 p.m. Friday in the Kahlden Complex Showdown. The Showdown takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday involving action between Bethel, Midway and Culver-Stockton.
