MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats and the Martin Methodist RedHawks squared off in a late season SSAC showdown at Crisp Arena in McKenzie Friday night. It was the SSAC Volleyball Game of the Week and it certainly lived up to that very billing. Before a loud and excited crowd the Lady Wildcat won 3-2.
The marathon match saw Bethel win 22-25, 24-26, 25-20, 25-23, 20-18.
Bethel moved to 19-11 and 10-2 in the league. Martin Methodist fell to 20-8 and 11-1. It was Bethel's fifth straight victory. The Cats have won nine of their last ten outings.
Hannah McGowan had 21 kills and 12 digs. Arielly de Souza had 22 kills and 30 digs. Madison Ralph finished with 35 digs. Rachael Gunn contributed with 16 kills. Katelyn Van Hooser had 35 assists and 18 digs. Maggie Brooks continued her solid play with 21 assists.
Martin Methodist won the previous meeting 3-1 in Pulaski.
Bethel returns to action Saturday hosting Faulkner at 1 p.m. It will be Senior Day for the Lady Cats with ceremonies taking place before the match. Gunn, Ralph, Rebekah Coleman and Destiny Cunningham will be honored at 1 p.m.
