Cats Win Seventh in a Row

MT. VERNON, Ga. – The Bethel Wildcats won their seventh straight with a 96-84 win at Brewton-Parker Saturday. The victory followed their impressive 96-84 win at Florida College on Thursday. The Wildcats moved to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in the SSAC. BPU fell to 1-11 and 0-5. It was the Barons tenth straight loss.

It was the ninth meeting between the two programs with Bethel leading the series 6- 3. The Cats are 4-0 in McKenzie and 2-3 in Mt. Vernon.

With the game tied at 73 all with 10:03 left in the game Bethel's Charles Cobb nailed a three-pointer to give the Cats a 76-73 lead which they would never relinquish. The Cats outscored the Barons 23-11 the remainder of the contest.

Bethel shot 52 percent from the field and nailed 28-of-32 free attempts to secure the victory. The Wildcats also had a 44-24 advantage in points in the paint. BPU shot 46 percent from the floor and hit ten three-pointers in the match-up.

Isaac Edmondson led Bethel with a game high 28 points. He collected seven rebounds and dished out four assists. Cayden Edmonson had 21 points and nine rebounds. Chase Nappier was solid as always and finished with 17 points. Foday Sankaray had 10 points.

Myles White led the Barons with 19 points.

Coach Jeff Britt commented on the road win. "This was a very tough game to play after Florida College. I think our maturity from a year ago has given us the opportunity to compete and be effective in our road games." He added, "Give Brewton-Parker a lot of credit. They have improved and are playing with a lot of confidence and patience. They will only continue to get better as the season progresses."

The Cats return home for two straight conference games. They host Loyola Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in Crisp Arena. They host William Carey Saturday at 4 p.m.
