WILLAMSBURG, KY–The Bethel Lady Wildcats and the Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands met for just the second time in history Friday. Bethel had won the prior meeting back in 2011. The Lady Wildcats made it two in a row over UC by pulling off the 3-0 upset in Williamsburg.
Janine Dennis scored both Bethel goals in the first period allowing the Cats to hand Cumberlands (RV) their first loss of the season. Dennis finished with a late second period score giving her the hat trick on the day.
The Patriots fell to 8-1 while Bethel improved to 5-3 on the year. Brittany Bray had a first period assist.
UC outshot Bethel 22-13 and had a 6-5 shots on goal advantage. Bethel's Jenna Mullen had five saves in the match.
Bethel is back in action hosting Welch College at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18.
