MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats played host to No. 21 Faulkner in a twin bill Friday at Wildcat Field in the Kahlden Complex. The Eagles won both games winning 9-1 and 3-1.
In game one Faulkner scored one run in the first and then added four runs in the second and seventh innings. They outhit Bethel 11-7 in the game. Both teams combined for five errors on the rainy day. Bethel committed three of those errors. Ciara Aragon drove in Emmi Thurmond in the fifth inning for Bethel's only score of the game. Thurmond had doubled to lead off the inning. Faulkner's Caitlin Perry picked up the win while Casey Wade suffered the Bethel loss.
Game two saw Faulkner score three runs in the third and that proved to be enough for the victory. Madisen Adkins scored on a passed ball in the fifth for Bethel's only run. She had singled earlier in the inning. Billie Douglas was charged with the loss while Emma Cornell was the winner for Faulkner.
The Lady Cats finished the day at 11-23 overall and 5-11 in the SSAC. Faulkner moved to 32-7 and 11-5. The Eagles have won six in a row. Since 2009 Faulkner has a 10 -7 advantage in the series against Bethel.
The Lady Cats entertain Martin Methodist Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 1:30 p.m.
The games versus Martin Methodist will be the 54th and 55th meetings between the two programs since 2006. MMC has a 43-9 advantage in those match-ups.
