MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats split their softball doubleheader with the visiting Martin Methodist RedHawks Saturday in McKenzie. Bethel won game one in extra innings 7-6. MMC won game two 7-3.
Bethel led game one 6-1 before Martin Methodist struck for five runs in the sixth to tie the game. The Lady Cats won 7-6 in nine. Bethel pounded out 16 hits in the SSAC affair.
Ciara Aragon had the game winning hit and RBI in the ninth. Emmi Thurmond and Casey Wade had homers for the Cats. Wade had four hits and also picked up the win while MMC's Baylee Mellott suffered the Hawk loss.
Thurmond finished with two RBI's. Skyla Stanfield drove in two runs while Dominque Todd had an RBI for the Lady Wildcats who are 12-24 overall and 6-12 in the SSAC. MMC is 17-15 and 7-7.
Game two saw MMC score four runs in the first and three in the fifth. The Lady Cats scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh. Aragon and Todd each drove in a run for the Cats.
Kaylee Davis was the winner while Bethel's Billie Douglas was charged with the loss.
Bethel remains at home playing host to Williams Baptist in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
