MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats dropped two tough decisions to visiting Williams Baptist Wednesday afternoon at the Kahlden Complex in McKenzie. The Eagles won game one 7-5 and took game two 8-5. The Lady Wildcats fell to 12-26 on the season while WBC improved to 14-14.
In game one Iesha Kizer's sacrifice fly in the first gave Bethel the early 1-0 lead. Williams Baptist answered scoring six runs in the second to grab a 6-1 lead. Bethel pushed across a single run in the third to make it 6-2. WBC scored a run in the fourth to push their margin to 7-2. Kizer blasted a three-run homer in the fifth to cut the WBC lead to 7-5. The Eagles would hold on for the two run victory however. Williams Baptist outhit the Lady Cats 11-8. Madisen Adkins had two hits for Bethel. Casey Wade suffered the loss while WBC's Taylor Davis was the winning hurler. Maddie Cochran was impressive with 5.2 innings in relief for the Lady Cats.
Williams Baptist pounded out 18 hits in game two scoring two runs in the first, two in the fifth and four in the sixth. Another three-run homer by Kizer in the third and a two run RBI single by Keely Jordan in the fifth had given Bethel a 5-4 lead but WBC's runs in the sixth proved to be the difference. Tess Temple was the winner while Cochran was charged with the Bethel loss.
The Lady Wildcats will host Middle Georgia State Thursday at 2 p.m. in the first game of a twin bill. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but moved because of the threat of bad weather.
The Lady Cats host Brewton -Parker Friday at 1:30 p.m. for a pair Of SSAC games.
