MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No. 13 Mobile Lady Rams stretched their winning streak to 14 in a row with a game one win in their doubleheader against Bethel Friday afternoon but the Lady Cats had the best of game two winning 4-3. The Rams won the first game 3-1. Mobile is 27-6 overall and 11-1 in the SSAC. Bethel is 11-19 and 5-7. The games were the SSAC Games of the Week.
In game one Mobile score two runs in the top of the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Rams have outscored their opponents 26-3 in the second inning on the year.
The Rams pushed over another run in the fourth for a 3-0 advantage.
The Lady Wildcats scored in the bottom of the sixth. After a Lexee Miller double and a Maddie Cochran single, Iesha Kizer had a sacrifice fly for Bethel's only run in the game.
Karley Sanders finished with a two hitter for the Lady Rams. She moved her record to 14-0 on the season. Casey Wade pitched well but suffered the loss.
Mobile outhit the Lady Cats 6-3 in the game.
Trailing 1-0 in the fifth in the second game the Lady Wildcats exploded for four runs in the inning sending nine hitters to the plate. Bethel drew three walks in the inning and was aided by a Ram error. The big blow was a two run RBI double by Kizer. Kizer leads Bethel and the SSAC with 31 RBI's. She also leads the league in doubles with 12 on the season.
Mobile score two runs in the top of the sixth but the Lady Cats held on for one of their biggest wins of the season. Billie Douglas pitched well limiting Mobile to just three hits on the day. Casey Wade came in and snuffed out the late inning rally to pick up the save. Hope Cain pitched well for Mobile but lost for just the third time on the year.
Bethel plays host to No. 9 William Carey Saturday at 1 p.m.
