MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No. 9 William Carey Crusaders took both games of a doubleheader at Bethel Saturday afternoon winning 7-2 and 6-2.
WCU moved to 26-10 overall and 11-2 in the SSAC. Bethel fell to 11-21 and 5-9.
In game one the Crusaders scored four runs in the top of the fourth. They added single runs in the third and fourth to lead 6-0.
Bethel's Iesha Kizer hit her eighth home run of the season with a solo shot in the fourth to cut the Bethel deficit to 6-1.
WCU pushed across another run in the sixth for a 7-1 lead.
Kizer went deep again in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-2. Kizer leads the SSAC with her nine homers and 33 RBI's.
William Carey outhit Bethel 12-4 in the game.
Hannah Moak picked up her 14th win of the season while Casey Wade was charged with the loss.
Game two saw WCU jump out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the second. The Crusaders made it 5-0 with four runs in the third.
In the bottom of the third Emmi Thurmond had a one out single. Kizer walked and then Wade doubled driving in Thurmond for Bethel's first run. Bethel left runners stranded at second and third however and trailed 5-1 after three.
Lexee Miller had an RBI in the fifth to make it 5-2 but WCU answered in the top of the seventh to win 6-2.
Bethel committed three errors in the game and was outhit 11-6.
Lindsey Johnson was the winner while Bethel's Billie Douglas was charged with the loss.
The Cats host Christian Brothers Wednesday. The teams play a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
