CLEVELAND, MS – The Bethel Wildcats stepped out of regular season action Tuesday night traveling to Cleveland, Mississippi to battle the Delta State Statesmen in an exhibition. The Statesmen counted the game as a regular season affair.
After beating DSU 66-61 last year the Cats were not able to make it two in a row falling 92-60. Delta State improved to 6-3 on the season.
The Wildcats gave the Statesmen all they could handle in the first half as DSU led by only one at 34-33 at the break. The second half was a different matter however as DSU shot a blistering 64 percent in the half and outscored the Wildcats 58-27 in the final twenty minutes.
Bethel shot 34 percent in the game and hit just two of 17 three point attempts. DSU shot 52 percent from the floor and had a 43-35 rebound advantage.
Isaac Edmondson led Bethel scoring 12 points. Bradley Walker had 11 points while Cayden Edmonson finished in double figures with 10 tallies. Noah Chatman had 13 rebounds for the Cats.
Matthew Wilson led DSU with a game high 23 points.
Bethel jumps back into SSAC action Thursday night hosting Dalton State at 7:30 p.m. in Crisp Arena. DSU will bring a 4-4 overall and 1-1 record into Crisp. Bethel is 7-3 and 1-1. Bethel beat the Roadrunners 74-66 last year giving them two straight wins over the Roadrunners although Dalton State has a 4-3 lead in the series. Bethel is 2-2 versus the Roadrunners in McKenzie.
