MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats played host to the 5th Annual Chick-Fil-A Classic with action beginning Friday night in Crisp Arena.
The Wildcats beat Rust College 94-80 and moved to 3-1 on the season. The Bearcats dropped to 5-1. In the earlier game Blue Mountain remained unbeaten at 3-0 with an 81- 68 victory over Cumberland University. CU fell to 5-1 on the season.
The Wildcat shot 54 percent from the floor hitting 37-of-68 attempts from the floor. The Cats hit seven three's and had a whopping 48-17 advantage in rebounds. Rust hit 13 three-pointers in the game but the Wildcats had a 42-17 margin in points in the paint.
Cayden Edmonson led Bethel with 14 points. Bradley Walker and Isaac Edmondson each had 11 points. Bethel l had eight players score seven or more points in the win.
Cortez Wade led Rust with a game high 31 points.
Saturday the classic continues with BMC playing Rust at 2 p.m. and Bethel playing Cumberland at 4 p.m.
Bethel is 74-24 all-time in Crisp.
