MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats played host to the No. 7 RedHawks of Martin Methodist Saturday afternoon in a SSAC soccer match at Wildcat Stadium. The Cats played hard and came within a whisper of upsetting the highly ranked visitors from Pulaski. The Hawks continued their dominance however over the Cats with a 1-0 double overtime win. MMC is 21-0-1 all-time versus Bethel.
The match was the first of three against ranked teams for the Lady Wildcats.
Millene Cabral scored with two seconds left in the double overtime to give MMC the win. The Hawks outshot Bethel 20-6 and had a 13-3 margin in shots on goal. Bethel's Jenna Mullen recorded 12 saves to keep the Wildcats in the game.
The Lady Cats fell to 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the SSAC. Martin Methodist is 11-0-1 and 4-0.
Bethel returns to action Thursday October 11 hosting Mobile with action beginning at 5 p.m.
