MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats upended Dalton State 2-0 in a key SSAC soccer affair Thursday night at Wildcat Stadium. With the victory Bethel moved to 10-7 overall and 3-4 in the SSAC. DSU dropped to 6-6-3 and 0-5-2. It was DSU's first trip ever to McKenzie. Bethel evened the series between the two programs at 2-2.
The Lady Wildcats had first period goals from Maggie Swift and Brittany Bray and outshot the visitors from Georgia 12-4. Both squads had four shots on goal. Jenna Mullen had four saves for the Lady Cats.
Bethel will close out the regular season Saturday against Faulkner with action beginning at noon. It will be Senior Day for the Lady Cats.
Bethel currently sets in sixth place in the SSAC standings. The top six teams advance to postseason play, with the top two seeds getting byes to the semifinals in Montgomery Nov. 7. No. 3 will host No. 6 and No. 4 will host No. 5 Nov. 2 or 3 to determine who advances to Montgomery.
