Cats Drop Second Straight with Loss at Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Bethel Wildcats dropped their second straight falling 75-65 to Faulkner in Montgomery late Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats fell to 12-10 overall and 5-5 in the SSAC. The Eagles improved to 15-6 and 7-4 in the league. Faulkner took a 4-3 lead in the series.

There were two early ties in the game but after Faulkner took a 9-6 lead the Eagles never relinquished the lead. Bethel never led in the contest and trailed at halftime 32-24. Bethel is 1-9 when trailing at the half on the season. Sixty two fouls were called in the game with nine players fouling out. Five Wildcats and four Eagles took an early seat.

The Wildcats shot 32 percent hitting 20-of-62 attempts from the floor. They hit six three's and were 19-of- 28 from the free throw line.

Faulkner was 19-of-48 from the floor at 39 percent. They hit seven three's and knocked down 30-of-42 free throws.

Both teams struggled with turnovers. Bethel had 21 while Faulkner committed 18 in the game. The Eagles made the most of Bethel's mistakes with a 19-8 advantage in points off turnovers.

Four Eagles scored in double figures with Marquis Grays leading Faulkner with 15 points. Charles Cobb was the only Bethel player in double figures with 15 points.

The Wildcats return to Crisp Arena for the first time in over three weeks hosting Blue Mountain at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.
