MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats had the quick turn-around after their 6-0 rout of No. 19 John Brown University Saturday. They played host to LSU-Alexandria at Wildcat Stadium Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats fell for the first time on the young season losing to the visitors 3-2.
LSU-A wasted no time scoring just 38 seconds into the match as Luis Petribu scored on an assist from Diego Marques. Four minutes later the Generals struck again on a score by Lance Crabtree. The assist was credited to Munir Poca. LSU-A made it 3-0 at the 32:38 mark with another goal from Petribu after an assist from Crabtree.
The Wildcats struck with 3:52 left in the first period on a strike by Mustapha Wadda. The goal was Wadda's sixth of the season. He entered the match fourth in the nation in goals scored. Rushayne Marrett had the assist.
LSU-A led at the break 3-1.
The second period was scoreless until Wadda scored with just minutes left and LSU-A held on to win 3-2.
Bethel had a 16-8 advantage in shots and a 5-4 margin in shots on goal.
The Wildcats fell to 3-1 on the season. The Generals improved to 2-0-1.
The Wildcats hit the road for two straight games. The match scheduled for Thursday against Freed-Hardeman in Henderson has been cancelled.
