Weather and Reinhardt Dominate the Day in Waleska

WALESKA, Ga. – It was the home opener for the No. 3 Reinhardt Eagles Saturday afternoon in Waleska, Georgia and their play did not disappoint their fans as they captured a 33-0 weather shortened victory over the Bethel Wildcats. The Eagles and weather were the dominating factors on the day. The game was stopped at the 2:20 mark of the second quarter because of storms and lightning in the Waleska area. The game was delayed for over two hours and with lightning lingering in the area the game was called giving the Eagles the victory.

Reinhardt dominated the game from the get go. The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead on a 19-yard run by Reggie Mack at the 11:16 mark of the first stanza. The extra point was missed. The Mack touchdown capped off a 69-yard drive. Dylan Wiggins hit Ronnie Chambliss on an 18-yard pass play at the 5:53 mark to give the Eagles a 12-0 lead. Nick Marquez nailed the extra point to give RU a 13-0 advantage. Qua Stocks capped a 48-yard drive at the 3:26 mark to give Reinhardt a 19-0 lead. Montrailius Mosley scored from one-yard out to make it 25-0. Marquez made it 26-0 with 14:08 left in the first half. Wiggins hit Chambliss on a 25-yard strike to make it 32-0 at the 12:49 mark. After the Marquez PAT it was 33-0 Reinhardt. Bethel did not have a first down in their first five possessions and did not record a first down until there was 6:03 left until halftime.

Reinhardt had 340 total yards on offense while Bethel was held to only eight yards in the contest. The Eagles had 21 first downs while the Wildcats had only one.

Bethel fell to 1-3 on the season while the Eagles improved to 3-0.

Bethel returns home Saturday to face Campbellsville at 1:30 p.m.
