COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Bethel Lady Wildcats tipped off the Southeastern Challenge at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky playing Milligan College at 10 a.m. Friday.
The Lady Cats won the hard fought match 3-2 over Milligan. Bethel won 24-26, 25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 15-9. The victory snapped a three match losing streak. The Lady Wildcats improved to 2-5 while Milligan fell to 2-3.
Bethel's Katelyn Van Hooser (FR/Princeton, KY) had a big effort with 14 digs and 30 assists. Brooke Burress (FR/Alamo, TN) had 12 digs and 23 assists. Daisy Liljenquist (SR/Dyersburg, TN) contributed with 26 digs. Jessyca Watson (JR/Gallatin, TN) was huge with 24 kills in the match.
Match two saw Union College beat Bethel in four sets. Bethel fell 11-25, 25-19, 17-25 and 22-25.
Maria Azevedo (FR/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led the Lady Cats with 14 kills. Burress finished with 21 assists while Van Hooser had 16 assists and 13 digs. Liljenquist had 14 digs.
Bethel dropped to 2-6 while Union (RV) moved to 4-2 on the season.
Saturday Bethel meets Bryan College at noon and Saint Thomas at 2 p.m.
