BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats split a low scoring doubleheader at Coastal Georgia Saturday in Brunswick. Coastal won game one 1-0 but Bethel snapped back to take game two 4-1.
Bethel's Casey Wade yielded only three hits but was the hard loser as CG's Reilly Oliver smashed a one out seventh inning walk off homer to give the Mariners the dramatic win. Bethel managed only four hits against Dawn Stewart who picked up the win.
In game two Bethel's Keely Jordan had RBI singles in the second and sixth innings to give Bethel a 2-0 lead. After the Mariners scored a single run in the sixth Bethel struck back with insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Dallas Weatherly drove in two runs with a single to deep left-center to give Bethel a 4-1 lead. Bailey Moore worked out of a seventh inning jam and finished with a six-hitter for the victory. Bethel had 11 hits on the day. Mady Kate Gantt had three of the Bethel hits.
Bethel moved to 19-17 overall and 5-13 in the SSAC. Coastal (RV) IS 27-15 and 11-7.
The Wildcats remain on the road at Georgia Gwinnett Sunday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
