LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats capped off their Georgia road trip with a doubleheader split at No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett Sunday. The split allowed the Lady Cats to win four of the six games in the Peach State. Bethel captured game one 10-5. The Grizzlies took game two 3-2.
Tied at three after four innings Bethel exploded for three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to secure the victory. One of the biggest hits of the game was Dominque Todd's three run double in the fifth. Madisen Adkins drove in two runners while Iesha Kizer and Alex Turner each drove in a run. Both teams had eight hits in the game. The Bethel effort was aided by five Grizzly errors. Adkins was the winning pitcher while Katie Jo Goodwin suffered the loss. Casey Wade picked up a save in the affair.
Game two saw Georgia Gwinnett's Chelsi Palazzo limit Bethel to just two hits. Bailey Moore suffered the Bethel loss. Dallas Weatherly drove in Bethel's only run of the game.
Bethel is 20-18 after the twin-bill. Georgia Gwinnett 34-6-1 on the season.
The Lady Cats return home for the first time since March 29 when they host No. 19 Williams Baptist Wednesday. The doubleheader at Wildcat Field begins at 2 p.m.
