MOUNT VERNON, Ga. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats swept a doubleheader at Brewton-Parker Friday afternoon in big fashion winning 5-0 and 15-4 in Mount Vernon.
A three-run sixth and a two -run seventh in game one enabled the Lady Cats to snap a four game losing streak. Dallas Weatherly's two run RBI double was the big blow in the sixth. Caylee Crews drove in a single run in the seventh. Bethel was aided by five BPU errors in the game. Casey Wade fired a six-hit shutout for the victory. Autumn Starling suffered the loss.
Bethel pounded out 14 hits in game two. They scored two runs in the first, nine in the third and four in the fifth. The Lady Wildcats sent 14 hitters to the plate in the third. They had nine hits in the inning. BPU struggled again defensively committing four errors in the contest. Seven different Wildcats drove in runs. Mady Kate Gantt, Caylee Crews and Emmi Thurmond each led the attack driving in three runs. Alex Turner and Kaylee Guthrie each had two RBI's. Weatherly and Julia Abney drove in single runs.
Bailey Moore picked up the win while Kayley Sapp was charged with the loss.
Bethel improved to 18-16 overall and 4-12 in the SSAC. BPU has lost 12 straight games and dropped to 8-29 and 3-13.
Bethel remains on the road traveling to Coastal Georgia Saturday. The doubleheader begins at noon.
