Bat Cats Host No. 1 Faulkner on Senior Day at Wildcat Park

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats continued their three game weekend series against No. 1 Faulkner Saturday playing a doubleheader against the Eagles at Wildcat Park. It was Senior Day for the Wildcats but unfortunately it was a tough day for the Cats falling in both games. The Eagles won 9-6 and 14-2.

In game one Faulkner took a 5-0 lead with five runs in the top of the second. The Eagles had three hits in the frame with the big hit being a two-run homer by John Price. Paolo Montezuma slugged a two-run homer in the third to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead. The Wildcats had a six run fourth to climb back in the game at 7-6. Bethel had five hits in the inning with the biggest hit being a three-run homer by Kendall Adkisson. The Eagles scored two insurance runs however in the top of the sixth to win 9-6. The Eagles outhit the Cats 8-6 in the game. Brady Jones suffered the loss while Tyler Tungate picked up the Faulkner victory.

Game two saw Faulkner score eight runs in the third inning on only two hits. The Wildcats committed three errors in the inning. They finished with six miscues in the game. The Wildcats scored their only two runs in the bottom of the third. Shea Nickias and Zach Crocker drove in the two runs. Faulkner outhit the Wildcats 14-8. Israel Fuentes was the winner while Steven White was charged with the loss.

The Wildcats dropped to 22-19 overall and 8-10 in the SSAC. The top-ranked Eagles snapped a three game losing streak and left town at 38-8 and 14-4.

The Wildcats close out the home portion of their regular season Tuesday hosting Freed-Hardeman at 2 p.m.
