Lady Wildcats Split Twin Bill with NCAA DII Union University

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Two old rivals met Wednesday in softball as Bethel played host to Union University. With the TranSouth Conference no longer in existence the two programs have gone their separate ways. Union is now a NCAA DII school while Bethel still competes in the NAIA as a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference.

The Lady Bulldogs used a three run fourth and an eight run fifth to win game one 11-1 in five innings. The big blow in the game was a grand slam by Paige Robertson in Union's eight run explosion. Rachel Ridolei picked up the win while Bailey Moore suffered the Bethel loss. Dominque Todd drove in Marissa Davis for Bethel's only score of the game.

Game two saw Bethel take advantage of Union's errors in the second and third innings scoring two runs in each frame.

Alex Turner, Caylee Crews and Ciara Aragon each had an RBI for the Lady Wildcats. Robertson had another home run for the Lady Bulldogs. Brooke Baucum went the distance and picked up the win. Gabby Morris was charged with the loss.

Bethel moved to 16-12 while Union traveled back to Jackson at 21-15.

The Lady Wildcats begin a stretch of 12 straight road games traveling to Faulkner for a doubleheader Friday beginning at 2 p.m.
