MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats gained a split of their doubleheader with Blue Mountain Saturday afternoon with an 8-4 victory in game two of the twin bill. The Toppers won game one 2-0.
In game one Bethel managed only three hits. Lucas Riddick, Gabriel Matias and Colby Poston each had a hit for the Wildcats. BMC scored single runs in the fourth and the seventh to win. Dustin Allen and Jonas White teamed up for the three-hitter. Allen was the winner with White picking up the save. Bethel's Trevor Bishop pitched well but suffered the loss.
Game two was a different matter as the Wildcats scored two runs in the first, two in the third, two in the fifth and added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Highlighting the offensive effort were three homers by the Wildcats. Riddick and Colin Roberts homered in the first inning. Matias had a huge two run homer in the fifth. Matias finished with four RBI's. Roberts completed his day driving in another run. Poston had a single RBI. Billy Price picked up the win for the Wildcats.
Bethel moved to 13-11 overall and 2-3 in the SSAC. BMC is 17-11 and 3-5 in the league.
The two squads play a single game Sunday at Wildcat Park beginning at 1 p.m.
