BLUE MOUNTAIN, MS – The Bethel Lady Wildcats bounced back in game two of their doubleheader at Blue Mountain grabbing their first conference win of the season beating the Lady Toppers 7-2. BMC had won game one 5-4.
In game one the Lady Cats outhit the Toppers 13 -9 but left seven runners on base. Alex Turner hit a two-run homer in the seventh but it was not enough as the late inning burst came up a run short. Caylee Crews and Dominque Todd had driven in runs earlier in the game. Bethel committed two errors in the game. Brooke Baucum suffered the loss while Makenzie Childress picked up the win for BMC.
Game two was a different matter as Bethel got off to a good start behind a Mady Kate Gantt two-run blast. Alex Turner continued with the hot bat rapping out three hits and driving in three runs. Emmi Thurmond and Keely Jordan had an RBI each. Bethel finished with 13 hits. Casey Wade picked up the win. BMC's Annabelle Smith suffered the loss. Bethel returns home at 10-8 overall and 1-5 in the SSAC. BMC is 10-10 and 2-4.
Bethel is home Saturday after ten straight road games. They host Stillman College in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
