MOBILE, Ala. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats continued their road trip traveling to Mobile Saturday to battle the University of Mobile Lady Rams in a pair of SSAC games.
The Wildcats lost a heartbreaker in game one as Mobile's Ashley Sprayberry hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Rams the dramatic 2-1 win. Bethel's Caylee Crews had given Bethel a 1-0 lead with a home run in the top of the second. Brooke Baucum scattered seven hits but took the loss. Sydney O'Connor yielded four hits and picked up the win for Mobile.
Game two saw the Lady Rams score three runs in the bottom of the third. A solo homer by Tyler Winkler and a two-run double by Sprayberry gave Mobile the lead.
Bethel's Keely Jordan delivered a two-out RBI single in the top of the fourth to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Mobile struck again with a three run inning in the bottom of the fourth. A three-run homer by Maegan Walding pushed the Ram lead to 6-1.
Crews drove in a run in the top of the sixth to make it 6-2. Mobile added three more runs in the sixth to win 9-2.
Casey Wade took the loss for Bethel while Mobile's Karley Sanders held bethel to four hits and picked up the victory.
Bethel dropped to 9-7 overall and 0-4 in the SSAC. Mobile moved to 15-6 and 2-0.
The Lady Wildcats remain on the road traveling to Freed-Hardeman Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
