MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats could not overcome an eight run sixth inning by Columbia College Friday afternoon and lost their second straight game falling to the Cougars 10-4 at Wildcat Park.
Both teams scored a single run in the first inning. Kendall Adkisson hit a solo home run in the fourth to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. The game stayed that way until the explosion by Columbia in the sixth. The Cougars scored the eight runs on only three hits. Bethel committed three errors in the inning. Two Cougars were hit by pitches and there were two wild pitches in the frame. Thirteen men batted in the inning for Columbia.
Lucas Riddick hit a two run homer in the bottom of the inning to cut the Cougar lead to 9-4 but Bethel could never close the gap. Columbia added a single run in the ninth to win 10-4.
Cody Ebert was the winner while DaKeith Burton suffered the loss for Bethel. Columbia moved to 2-0 on the young season while Bethel dropped to 0-2.
The two teams play a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
