MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats returned home Tuesday night to host the Crowley's Ridge College Pioneers. The Wildcats moved their overall record to 68-20 in Crisp Arena with a season high 117 points in their 117-81 victory. Bethel moved to 8-4 capturing their sixth straight game while CRC dropped to 1-10 on the season.
Bethel's Chase Nappier had a career high 20 points and nine assists. Isaac Edmondson who was named the NAIA National Player of the Week just before tip-off had 16 points in the win. He was honored before tip-off for recently joining the Bethel 1,000 Point Club. Jarred Walker had a career high 14 points and six dimes. Conner Boley popped in 11 points while Charles Cobb finished in double figures with 10 points.
Chris Bernard led CRC with 21 points. Randy Stanley followed with 20 tallies, 18 of those in the first half. Donovan Tritschler came off the bench and had 12 second half points for the Pioneers.
Bethel was 41-of-74 from the floor for 55 percent. They hit a season high 14 three's in the game and were 21-of-25 from the free throw line. The Cats had a season tying 26 assists.
CRC was 29-of-59 from the floor for 49 percent. The Pioneers hit six three-pointers and were 17-of-26 from the foul line.
Bethel had a 41-21 rebound advantage. They are 8-1 when they out rebound their opponents. The game was marred with turnovers. CRC had 30 while Bethel had 2 in the match-up.
Bethel's bench outscored the Pioneers 63-23. The Wildcats had a 44-30 advantage in points off turnovers.
Coach Jeff Britt was pleased with the win. "We played a lot of people and are pleased with the win. It being finals week always is tough for the kids. We shot the ball well and I continue to be pleased with how this group plays together and shares the basketball. We will finish up finals and travel to Freed Saturday. We look forward to playing them."
The Wildcats travel to Freed-Hardeman Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
