Wildcats close out season on a High Note with Win at Kentucky Christian

GRAYSON, KY- The Bethel Wildcats closed out their 2017 football campaign on a high note with a 35-14 win at Kentucky Christian Saturday. The Wildcats finished 3-7 on the year. They were 2-4 in the MSC Bluegrass Division. KCU dropped to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in the league. The Knights close out their season next week at Cumberland University.

Bethel trailed 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Cats got on the board in the second stanza on a rushing touchdown by De' Ontay Tate with the score coming at the 11:35 mark. Dalton McCann's point after tied the game at seven. With 4:44 left until the half Sam Castronova put Bethel ahead with a rushing touchdown and the Wildcats led 14-7 at the break.

Second half scores iced the contest for Bethel. Castronova hit Vonte Bates on a 43-yard touchdown strike. Trey'Von Brown ended his outstanding senior season and career forcing a fumble and returning it for a score. Bethel's final score came on rarity. Offensive lineman Cole Andrews capped off his great career with a touchdown reception from Castronova and the Cats left Grayson with the victory.

Bethel had 295 yards in passing and 176 yards on the ground. KCU had 114 yards in the air and 190 rushing yards.

Bates would finish with four reception for 85 yards. Luke Mitchum caught seven passes for 98 yards. Ten different Wildcats caught passes in the contest.

Castronova was 25-of-49 in the air with the two touchdowns. He had one pass picked off by the Knight defense. Bethel was the recipient of three KCU fumbles.
