FORT CAMPBELL, KY – The Bethel Wildcats traveled to Fort Campbell, Kentucky Wednesday to meet the Austin Peay State Governors in an exhibition game and the Cats held their own against the OVC squad trailing just 33-30 at the half. The Cats trailed 50-46 with just under 12 minutes left in the game. The Govs however outscored the Cats 40-12 and beat Bethel 90-58.
It was a tough game for both teams as they combined for 51 turnovers and hit just four of 28 three-point attempts. Bethel was 25-of-67 from the field at 34 percent. The Wildcats hit 3-of -14 three pointers. They were 9-of-20 from the foul line. APSU was 30-of-62 from the floor at 48 percent. They hit just 1-of-14 three point attempts. The Governors had a big advantage from the foul line hitting 29-of -51 tries. ASPU won the battle of the boards at 52-43.
Bradley Walker led Bethel with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Chase Nappier had 10 points. Averyl Ugba led APSU with 18 points.
APSU is hosting several events during the month of November in honor of the men and women who have and are serving our country.
The game against the Wildcats was the first-ever contest involving collegiate basketball programs at Fort Campbell, and it marked the first APSU home game away from the Dunn Center since that facility opened in 1975.
