MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats returned to action for the first time in 11 days and they did it in style with a 3-0 win over Middle Georgia State. It was the conference opener for both squads.
Bethel's Keeba Demba scored two goals in the first period for the Wildcats. Bethel's other score was an own goal with seconds left in the match. Christopher Hill recorded an assist for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats outshot the Knights 15-12 and had a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. Marco Taaffe was credited with four saves for the Cats. It was Bethel's sixth shutout of the year.
The Wildcats ran their record to 7-2 and 1-0. MGS fell to 1-8-1 and 0-1.
Bethel plays host to Brewton-Parker Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Bethel Soccer Complex.
