MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats travel to Cochran, Georgia Friday night to meet the Middle Georgia State Lady Knights in opening round action of the Southern States Athletic Conference Soccer Championships. The Lady Cats are a number five seed and will face number four seeded MGS Friday at 5 p.m. CST.

The top four seeds will host opening round games Nov. 3-4, with the four winners advancing to the SSAC Championship Semifinals Nov. 8 at Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Ala. The championship match will take place Nov. 10 at the same field at 4 p.m. CST.
Bethel completed their regular season at 11-5 overall and 3-4 in the SSAC. After winning their first seven games Bethel dropped five of their last nine games. The Lady Wildcats enter the championships with a three game losing streak. They were outscored 11-2 in the three losses.
Janine Dennis led Bethel in scoring with 12 goals and four assists. Melinda Sopka followed with seven goals and five assists. Danielle Krzyzaniak had 68 saves and six shutouts on the year.
Bethel outscored their opponents 33-19 on the season.
Coach Misty Aird is one win away from career win No. 200 at Bethel.
Middle Georgia finished 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the league. They won three of their last four games.
Sam Silva led the Knights with 18 goals on the year. She has six game winning goals. Jade Washington had six goals for MGS. Brooke Best recorded 90 saves for the Knights.
The two squads met in McKenzie October 5 with the Knights prevailing 2-1.
