MCKENZIE, Tenn. –It wasn't easy but the Bethel Lady Wildcats made sure it was a good night for two senior players and three senior managers Friday night on Senior Night in Crisp Arena. Daisy Liljenquist and Savannah Melton along with managers Ashley Tipler, Jazane Williams, and Sabria Bell were honored in pregame ceremonies before the SSAC showdown against Faulkner University. In the end it took five sets but Bethel prevailed 3-2.
Faulkner took set one 25-23. Bethel bounced back with wins in set two (25-18) and set three (25-14). Faulkner battled back to win set four, 25-18. The Lady Wildcats jumped out early in set five and led 8-3 only to see the Lady Eagles tie the set at 11-11. Bethel scored three straight to lead 14-11. Faulkner made it 14-12 before the Lady Cats won 15-12.
Liljenquist had 17 digs in the game. Melton had six kills and five digs. Giulia Zilotti had a big night with 26 digs. Brooke Burress had 29 assists while Katelyn Van Hooser contributed with 23 assists. Brianca Mayfield had 19 kills and 14 digs. Jessyca Watson had 14 kills while Maria Azevedo had 10 kills.
The Lady Cats host (RV) Mobile Saturday in their regular season home finale at 2 p.m. They close out their regular season Thursday at Martin Methodist.
