Cats Fall at Cumberland University
LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University powered past Bethel with a 10-6 victory at Woody Hunt Stadium on Friday.
The Phoenix took a 3-0 lead after three innings.
The Wildcats plated a single run in the fourth on a Cade Pilkinton RBI single.
Cumberland responded with a seven inning fifth inning.
Bethel scored a single run in the eighth and a three run ninth, but it wasn't enough. Jared Hall accounted for the three runs with a three-run homer.
The Phoenix outhit the Wildcats 13-8. Bethel committed four errors in the game.
Lucas Smith suffered the loss.
The Phoenix improved to 23-6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-South Conference, while Bethel dropped to 13-9 overall and 1-2 in MSC play.
The squads square off Saturday in Lebanon with a twin bill beginning at noon.
