Cats Split Sunday’s Doubleheader with Waldorf
MCKENZIE, Tenn. -The Bethel Wildcats split their doubleheader Sunday with Waldorf.
Bethel took game one 6-5 in dramatic fashion. The Warriors salvaged one game of the four-game set by winning the final game, 4-1 and in doing so snapped Bethel's seven game winning streak. The Wildcats finished the day 12-7 while Waldorf returned to Iowa at 4-10.
In game one, the Cats led 2-0 after scoring single runs in the second and third innings. Waldorf took the lead with three runs in the fifth. The Warriors increased their lead to 5-2 with two runs in the sixth. The Wildcats tied the game in the sixth inning by plating three runs. Ivan Vega drove in Jared Hall with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to give the Cats the dramatic 6-5 victory.
Waldorf outhit the Cats 6-5. Klayton Wright picked up the win in relief.
Rivers Moffatt drove in two runs. Adriel Vega and Garrett Taylor each had an RBI.
In game two, both teams scored a single run in the third. Jared Hall, who had two hits scored on an RBI double off the bat of Adriel Vega.
Waldorf outhit the Wildcats 6-4. Reese Ellison suffered the loss.
Bethel returns to action Friday and Saturday opening up conference action against visiting Campbellsville. The teams will play a single game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday. Times for the games will be announced later.
