Bat Cats Lose Slugfest to Olivet Nazarene

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats lost to visiting Olivet Nazarene Sunday afternoon in a game that featured 26 total hits and 16 runs. ONU took the opener of a three-game series deemed the Civil War Series 9-7.

Bethel took a 1-0 lead after the first inning and led 3-2 after three. The Cats led 7-4 after five innings but the visitors scored five runs in the top of the seventh. ONU scored an insurance run in the top of the ninth to secure the victory.

The Wildcats production from the plate came off the bats of Jack Beck, Ivan Vega, and Jose Olmeda who each drove in two runs. CJ Thomas had the other RBI.

Each team had 13 hits. Vega had a two-run homer. Olmeda had a double and triple in the game.

Tristan Seputis suffered the loss for the Cats.

ONU improved to 2-3 on the season. The Wildcats dropped to 4-5.

The teams play doubleheader on Monday at noon.
