Bat Cats Face Campbellsville in MSC Quarterfinals
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. The Bethel Wildcats coming off their remarkable and wild opening round home win over Lindsey Wilson return to the diamond but this week in the MSC Quarterfinals in Bowling Green.
The MSC Baseball Tournament resumes Thursday at Bowling Green Ballpark. Action gets underway Thursday at 10 a.m. CT with No. 4 seed Bethel taking on No. 5 seed Campbellsville. The winner will face top-seeded Freed-Hardeman at 10 a.m. CT Friday. Thursday wraps up with No. 3 seed Georgetown taking sixth-seeded Cumberland at 2:30 p.m. CT. The winner will face No. 2 seed Cumberlands on Friday at 12:30 p.m. CT.
Friday will also feature two elimination games at 4 and 7:30 p.m. CT. The winner's bracket final takes place on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT with the loser's bracket semifinal taking place at 2 p.m. CT. The loser's bracket final takes place on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT. The championship game is scheduled for Noon CT on Sunday with the if-necessary to follow.
Bethel is 17-22 on the year while the Tigers are 23-22.
Jose Olmeda leads the Cats in RBI's (28), stolen bases (8), runs scored (40) and walks (27). Jacob Foster leads Bethel in home runs with six and slugging percentage at .565. Ivan Vega has a team leading 11 doubles. Kendrick Osborne has a team leading 44 hits. He leads the squad with a .355 batting average and a .459 on base percentage. Marco Santa leads the Wildcats with a 5-3 mark. Santa and Osborne were named to the MSC Honorable Mention team.
The Wildcats and Tigers met in mid-March in Campbellsville. Campbellsville won game one 12-9 but the Cats bounced back with a 16-3 seven inning victory in game two.
