Cats Can’t Hold Lead and Fall in Game One of MSC Series to LWC
MCKENZIE, TENN. – The Bethel Wildcats took a 7-3 lead into the seventh inning of their series opener versus Lindsey Wilson in the MSC Opening round Thursday night but in the end the Wildcats fell to the Blue Raiders 11-7 in twelve innings.
In a wild one the teams combined for eighteen runs, twenty-five hits and nine errors. Bethel stranded nine runners while LWC left fifteen runners on base.
In the top of the seventh, the Blue Raiders scored four to tie the game. The big blow in the inning was a three-run homer by Jordan Blick.
The game remained tied until the 12th when LWC pushed across the decisive four runs to win.
Brandon Armour pitched well but suffered the loss. Kyle Collin pitched three shutout innings and picked up the win for the Blue Raiders.
Cat offensive highlights included Ivan Vega with three hits and an RBI. Jose Olmeda had two hits and drove in a run. J T Morgan had an RBI. Luis Aristud drove in two Wildcats.
Nico Martinez led the Raider attack scoring four times. He had three hits and drove in what proved to be the winning run in the top of the 12th.
The Wildcats dropped to 15-22 while LWC moved to 24-22.
Game two of the best of three begins at noon Friday with game three to follow if necessary.
