Wildcats Win Series with Saturday’s Win at UTS

PULASKI, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats closed out MSC play with their game Saturday at Tennessee Southern. The teams split their two games Friday. The Cats won the series with a come from behind 8-6 victory Saturday.

UTS got on the board first with a single run in the bottom of the first.

The FireHawks extended their lead in the bottom of the second scoring five runs on six hits.

The Wildcats got on the board in the top of the third. Jose Olmeda reached on an error and scored later after a double by Ivan Vega.

The Wildcats drew closer with three runs in the top of the sixth. Wyatt McKee, Olmeda, and Kendrick Osborne scored on an error by the UTS catcher.

A four run eighth inning propelled the Wildcats to an 8-6 lead. RBI singles by Olmeda, Paden New, Logan Beecham, and Noah Hawkins were the key hits.

Bethel left twelve runners stranded but outhit UTS 13-11. Bethel's Luis Arsitud was 4-for- 5 on the day.

Ryan White won for the second straight game. Josh Simmons was charged with the Hawk loss.

Bethel moved to 12-21 and 10-13 in the MSC. UTS dropped to 13-27 and 4-16. 

The Wildcats return to plat Tuesday hosting Oakland City in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
