Cats Fall at Lindsey Wilson
COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Bethel Wildcats returned to the diamond Friday in the first game of a three-game set at Lindsey Wilson in Columbia.
The Wildcats scored an unearned run in the first to grab a 1-0 lead.
Lindsey Wilson's Chance Stayton hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning to give the home team a 3-1 lead.
The Cats cut the deficit to 3-2 on a solo shot by Paden New in the top of the second.
Stayton and Lucas Bault singled in runs in the bottom of the fourth to give the Blue Raiders a 5-2 margin. A Bethel error allowed two more to runs score. A Koby Wall triple knocked in another run and LWC led 8-2 after four.
The Wildcats cut the deficit in half in the top of the fifth with RBI's by Ivan Vega and Bryan Catala.
Gabe Board drove in two LWC runners with a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh.
Wyatt McKee hit into a fielder's choice in the top of the eighth allowing J T Morgan to score but it would not be enough as the Raiders won 10-5. LWC outhit Bethel 16-14. Kendrick Osborne had three hits for Bethel. Bethel stranded eleven runners in the game. Both teams committed two errors.
Cohen Achen picked up the Blue Raider win while John Boren suffered the Wildcat loss.
Bethel fell to 8-16 and 6-9 in the league. It was the sixth straight loss for the Cats. LWC moved to 21-13 and 9-7.
The two squads resume action Saturday in a twin bill starting at noon.
