Bat Cats Drop Season Opening Twinbill

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats opened their season Sunday afternoon against the University of St. Francis Cougars. In front of a huge crowd at Wildcat Park at the Kahlden Complex the Cougars had the best of the day sweeping the Cats 8-4 and 9-3.

A five run sixth inning by the Cougars proved to be the difference in game one. Bethel scored single runs in the third and fourth innings. The Cats, on a two-run homer by Logan Beecham in the fifth pushed across two runs but the Cougars went on to win 8-4. Luis Aristud had two doubles and drove in two runs.  Alex Rodriguez suffered the Wildcat loss. Cory Wolter picked up the St. Francis win. Alex Brunson and Kaden Sullivan went deep for the Cougars. Bethel was held to four hits while St. Francis had eight in the game.

Game two saw the Cougars score in five of the seven innings.  Bethel scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Jacob Foster drove in two runs. Aristud had the other RBI. Ryan White was charged with the loss. Casey Henry picked up the Cougar victory.  St. Francis outhit the Cats 12-5.

The Cats jump back into action Friday and Saturday. They meet Midway and No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia both days. The Wildcats face Midway Friday at 10 a.m. and Georgia Gwinnett at 1 p.m. On Saturday Bethel plays Midway at 10 a.m. and GGC at 4 p.m.
