BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Bethel University Lady Wildcats opened the 2026 season with a 4-0 loss to Olivet Nazarene University Thursday evening.
Olivet Nazarene scored twice during a two-minute span midway through the opening half. Cassidy Garberding put the Tigers on the board in the 22nd minute before Arabelle Laurent extended the lead to 2-0 in the 24th minute.
The Tigers added two second-half goals. Melea Miller scored in the 64th minute, while Samantha Guerra closed the scoring in the 81st minute. Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano assisted on both second-half goals.
Olivet Nazarene finished with a 20-7 advantage in shots and placed 11 attempts on goal. Bethel goalkeeper Lola Guerin recorded seven saves.
Briley Ross and Tinotenda Taurai led the Lady Cats with two shots apiece. Addison Schumacher and Natasha Muchakati each added a shot on goal. Bethel placed four of its seven shots on target.
The Lady Cats return to action Monday, August 24, when they host Spartanburg Methodist College.
Action begins at 5 p.m.
