GULF SHORES, Ala. -The Bethel Lady Wildcats are participating in the Gulf Shores Invitational in Gulf Shores, Alabama this weekend.
The Lady Cats lost the first game of a four-game weekend set, falling 10-0 in five innings to the Faulkner Lady Eagles.
The Eagles plated two runs in the first and second innings and broke the game open with six runs in the third. Bethel was outhit 14-4 in the loss.
Faulkner improved to 12-4 while Bethel dropped to 6-5 on the season.
In game two of the day, the Lady Cats faced another talented squad in William Cary.
Both teams scored single runs in the second inning.
The Crusaders broke the tie in the fourth win a run and then added two runs in the top of the sixth. WCU out the game away with three runs in the seventh and won 7-1. The Crusaders outhit the Cats 14-6.
It was the 30th meeting between the two programs with WCU holding a 26-4 advantage in the series.
Bethel dropped to 6-6 while William Carey moved to 14-5.
The Lady Cats wrapped up play Sunday facing William Woods at 11:15 a.m. and then at 1:30 p.m. when they meet Thomas University.
