MCKENZIE, Tenn. –Several Bethel athletic teams' including the Bethel Women Soccer team participated in McKenzie Rebel's Walk to School Day Wednesday. The team had breakfast with the elementary students, walked with the middle school students, and also greeted kids at the elementary school.
Bethel Head Coach
Misty Aird said, "This was a great event, and our students enjoyed their time encouraging these young kids and wished them a great day at school. This also aligns with our champions of character initiative."
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' (NAIA) Champions of Character provides training to ensure student-athletes know, do, and value the right things in all areas of life. The five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership are put into play, accounted for, and tracked at all NAIA schools.
Bethel has been recognized 11 straight years as a Champions of Character Five-Star Institution. Bethel is one of 203 Five-Star Winners in the nation.
Institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earn points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.
As a member of the NAIA, Bethel University participates and is committed to the Champions of Character program.
