LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –The last time the Bethel Lady Wildcats suffered a loss was in late October when they lost 70-62 to Philander Smith in the Bethel Tip-off Classic.
The Cats put their six -game winning streak on the line Tuesday traveling to Little Rock to face the Lady Panthers for the second time on the season.
The Lady Cats shot 46 percent from the field in the first half and led 36-26 at the break. Madison Hart had nine first half points. Kylie Reynolds posted eight tallies. Anya Patterson tossed in seven points.
Bethel scored the first seven points of the third quarter and maintained a comfortable lead the remainder of the game and won 76-60.
The Lady Wildcats shot a blistering 91 percent from the free throw line (30-33) and shot 52 percent from the floor to continue the streak. Bethel had a 31-23 rebound advantage. Philander Smith shot just 32 percent from the field and were 9-of-19 from the charity line. The Cats had a 32-18 margin in points in the paint.
Hart led all scorers with 27 points. Anaya Patterson tossed in 13 points. Kylie Reynolds had eight points and a game high eight rebounds.
Bethel moved to 7-2 while the Panthers fell to 6-2 on the season.
Coach Chris Nelson spoke about the impressive road victory. "We are very pleased to come on the road versus a good team and get the win. We are proud of the growth of our team from the first weekend to now. We are one-third way through our season and settling in with our rotations and what we are trying to do on both ends of the floor. These road games have been good for us, and you can tell the girls are really connecting. We have plenty of things to clean up and get better at because we know a storm is always around the corner, but we are going to enjoy this one and get back to work at the end of the week."
Bethel is off until December 8th and 9th when they host the Holiday Classic in Crisp Arena. The Cats meet Bellevue on the 8th and Harris Stowe on the 9th. Watch for details on the classic later at www.bethelathletics.com.
