ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats split their two games on the opening day of the Gulf Coast Invitational Friday in Orange Beach.
The Cats returned to the diamond Saturday facing undefeated (RV) Mobile and No. 25 Houston-Victoria.
Mobile ran their record to 15-0 with a 4-0 victory over the Cats.
The Lady Cats fell 4-1 to Houston-Victoria in the second game. The Lady Cats dropped to 9-5 with the two losses.
Recaps of both games will be posted when stats are made available. There were technical issues at the fields.
Coach John Weeks commented, "We have played pretty well, except out hitting. We have faced every team's ace. We will definitely be better by playing this type of competition. It will help us in conference play no doubt."
The final day on Sunday will see Bethel take on No. 16 Columbia (Mo.) at 11:15 a.m. The Cats wrap up their play in the event at 1:30 p.m. versus Louisiana Christian.
There will be no live stats of the games.
