MCKENZIE, Tenn. – If you are a soccer fan and like defense, Wildcat Stadium in McKenzie was the place to be Wednesday night as the Bethel Wildcats and the No. 18 Cumberland Phoenix went two overtimes and finished in a scoreless battle.
Bethel had a slight advantage in shots on goal at 5-4. Both squads had ten shots each.
The series stands at 6-4-1 with Bethel holding the advantage. The match ended a four game losing streak to the Phoenix by Bethel. Shanay Ricketts recorded four saves for the Lady Cats. Michaela Hawthorn had five for CU.
Bethel is 2-0-1 on the year while Cumberland is 3-0-1.
Coach Misty Aird was proud of her team. "I am super proud of our effort tonight. I thought we were the better team at times but just came up unlucky with some opportunities. Give Cumberland a lot of credit however as they are an excellent team and very worthy of their ranking."
The Lady Cats return to action Tuesday hosting Bryan College at 4 p.m.
